The Experiences of Early Menopause project is a NHMRC-funded partnership project (APP1116008, 2016 – 2019) being conducted by researchers at the Health, Society & Medicine Research Lab in the Centre for Applied Social Research, School of Global, Urban and Social Sciences at RMIT University and the Monash Centre for Health Research and Implementation (MCHRI), Monash University.
Our partners are: National Breast Cancer Foundation, Monash Health, Breast Cancer Network Australia, Healthdirect Australia, Australasian Menopause Society, Women’s Health Victoria and Endocrine Society of Australia.
A major output of this project will be a Healthtalk Australia online resource on experiences of early menopause aimed at supporting and informing women with early menopause, their family members and friends, as well as informing health professionals and health educators.
As well as video, audio and text excerpts from women’s and health professionals’ interviews, the website will also feature links to other useful services and information sources, as well as downloadable resources such as fact sheets, Question Prompt Lists (for women to use to guide their discussions with health professionals) and a management algorithm for health professionals.
